Meet Our New Team Members From August

Alexandra Coll joined our Human Resources Team as the new Human Resources Generalist on Wednesday, August 5. In her new role, Alex will own the on/off-boarding processes.  She also is the point person on regulatory compliance and team member relations.

Her favorite place to travel abroad is Paris.

Alex’s Uncommon Fact? She used to know the entire 50 States Song but now she can only recite half! Want to know which half? Ask her!

Ken McCallum (who pleaded camera shy) joined our Analytics team as our new Data Scientist on Wednesday, August 5.  Ken will be working on complex data projects across departments.

Ken was formally a postdoc at Columbia University, developing statistical methods for analyzing gene sequencing data.  He likens analyzing gene sequencing data to proofreading shredded documents, but with more math, as sequencing technology shreds DNA into millions of small pieces!

Ken’s an avid Lindy Hopper, so you may run into him if you ever go swing dancing in New York.

Ken’s Uncommon Fact? If being a swing dancing doctor isn’t uncommon enough, Ken brews beer on occasion, and enjoys trying original recipes. So far, his most popular has been a cucumber hefeweizen.
Valeria Neal has re-joined our Technology Team as our new Systems Administrator, starting on Monday, August 17. Valeria will be responsible for configuring and maintaining UG’s servers.

Valeria has worked as IT Support Technician for New York University and worked for Uncommongoods last autumn as a Help Desk Technician.

She never leaves the house without a Hello Kitty designer bag.
Valeria’s Uncommon Fact? She does 3D modeling in her spare time.
