January Anniversaries

Happy anniversary to our team members that started in January. If for each company snack these team members had their own Microwave Popcorn Popper's worth of popcorn, then together they would have consumed approximately 8,736 cups of popcorn (which is also roughly the equivalent of a movie theater's size small).

  • Carolyn Topp, 7,392 Cups (11 years)
  • Ariel Araza, 672 Cups (1 year)
  • Tanya Castin, 672 Cups (1 year)

B With Us: BetterWorldBooks

Did you know that UncommonGoods is a founding B Corp? B Corps are businesses that are certified by the nonprofit B Lab, which indicates that they meet high standards in the key areas of environment, workers, customers, community and governance. B with Us will be an ongoing series of posts that feature fellow B Corp members.

BetterWorldBooks, a company that buys and sells books online and donates money to help fund literacy initiatives not only shares our affinity for compound words, but also is a B Corp! If you are looking for affordable books, BetterWorldBooks offers great deals for a good cause.

Help Test Our Products!

The blog team is looking for volunteers to put products to the Gift Lab test and write about it.

What is a Gift Lab?

A short blog post using the “scientific method” to show how an uncommon good works. You’ll complete these steps:
  1. Research (What did you do to prepare for the Gift Lab?)
  2. Hypothesis (What do you think will happen?)
  3. Experiment (How did you test the product?)
  4. Conclusion (How did it all turn out?)

Are there any rules?

Only a few:
  • The product you choose should have some testable element.
  • The product (or combination of products) should cost less than $100 retail.
  • You can’t test something that’s already been featured in a Gift Lab . (Check them out athttp://blog.uncommongoods.com/tag/gift-lab/)
  • You get to keep the product(s) you select in exchange for writing the blog post and taking photos. If you don’t complete the post, you may be asked to return the item or pay for it.
  • Gift Labs must be approved by Cassie, our blog editor.

How do I sign up?

Financial Empowerment Counseling Continues!

We have elected to continue to partner with Neighborhood Trust Financial Partners to offer free, unbiased financial counseling services through July. You can take advantage of these opportunities right here at work while also staying in touch via email or phone to achieve your short and long term financial goals.

Their service is completely free, confidential, and unbiased. They can help you reduce debt, improve your credit, and save for the future – whatever goals you may have, Neighborhood Trust can help you achieve them.

A financial counselor will be at on-site weekly. You can schedule an appointment by using on of these three methods:
