New Hires - July

Now Introducing…Our New Software Developers!

Andy Jacques and Frank Xaio both joined our Technology Team as Software Developers on Monday, July 20. In their new roles, they will be working on development for systems, including the website and Admin.

Previously, Andy has held positions including desktop support specialist, car salesman, loan adviser, software engineer, and even the production cameraman for a reality TV show. He knows that “Chiweenie” is not just an odd abbreviation for a Chicago-style hot dog; he has a Dachshund/Chihuahua (Chiweenie) named Beanie.

Andy’s Uncommon Fact?  He went skydiving for the first time a few weeks ago…and loved it!

Frank grew up in a small city in Northern China. He loves programming and thinking over challenging problems.

Frank’s Uncommon Fact? He has done research on rat brains!

Food Group: Kai Feng Fu Dumpling House

To gauge interest in a possible food group, we're heading over to Kai Feng Fu Dumpling House for highly recommended, no frills (read: cheap) grub in the area on Wednesday, August 26th at 6:30pm. Sean will be leading a group at that time from the bottom of the exit staircase, beyond the N/R Station that many of us know so well, and over to the Dumpling House (on 8th Ave between 48th and 49th). This is not a UG-sponsored event (read: not free), just an invitation to join a group on the first stop of a quest to find the best dumplings and pork buns in the neighborhood.

Not sure where the bottom of the staircase is? Here are excellent directions from Lee: the bottom of the exit staircase is outside at the eastern corner of the building. If you use the stairs to enter and exit – it’s those stairs. If you use the elevator – please head down to the first floor, go out the main entrance and turn right to get to that corner of the building. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, etc. please direct them to Sean at scullen@uncommongoods.com.
