UncommonGoods is located within five miles of unique community
staples that are worthy of exploration. Every “Within Five” post will focus on
a spot within five miles of UncommonGoods that dares to be different and/or
does good.
Our first focus is on the Brooklyn Superhero Supply Company (est. 2004), located
3.2 miles from the Brooklyn Army Terminal. The shop
offers a plethora of products for the budding superhero, whether it's a cape,
secret identity, or even a gallon of immortality (for when there aren’t enough
hours in the day). However, the real superheroes can be found behind a secret
door where 826NYC, a non-profit and free tutoring center, hosts workshops and tutoring
hours to support students ages 6-18.
The shop is open every day from 11am-5pm
and staffed entirely by volunteers. Check it out!
