The Books for Bubby Children's Book Drive

Call for Books for Children Under 12 Years Old
The Books for Bubby Books Drive is in memory of Sylvia Pecker, a former NYC school teacher and family member of our own Brad Allen, established to collect books for children who might not otherwise have them. This year, the books will be collected for the Osborne Association, a seasonal partnering organization which has an 80-year history in working with currently and formerly incarcerated men, women, children, and families affected by the incarceration of a loved one.

The Osborne Association has seven hospitality centers across New York State, where families wait on their way to see their loved ones in prison. These are bare bones facilities, and the Osborne staff has communicated that book donations would help create a more friendly environment for young children, while giving families a way to pass stressful time. The drive is looking to collect books for all seven locations and here is how we can help:

1. Pick a book - You can pick your favorite children's book (for any age from infant up to 12 years old), find a new book that looks awesome, or pick a book from this list that the drive organizers put together.

2. Buy it -  The Bubby team recommends Powell's City of Books—an independent union book store (additionally 7.5% of every sale goes directly to support the workers of ILWU Local 5 if you access the site from the links above). Books can also be purchased at fellow B-Corp, Better World Books.

3. Bring the books to Brad or have them shipped directly by June 15th - You can bring the books to Brad's desk in the TechOps room (located just to the left of the 2B entrance way) and he will deliver them personally. If buying online, they can ship to the address listed below:
