B With Us: Catchafire

Are you looking for an organization or project to devote your volunteer hours to? Catchafire is a fellow-B Corp that matches volunteers with charitable organizations in need of their professional skill set. Potential projects and organizations range in desired skills. Prospective volunteers are able to create profiles that showcase what they would want to advocate for with what they excel at.

A happy birthday to all our Team Members with June Birthdays! This month we have a whopping 3 pairs of team members with the same birthday. UncommonStats:

Meet Two of Our Newest Team Members

Elise Waugh is our new PR Manager who began with us on Monday, May 4.  Elise is a member of the Marketing Team. In her new role, Elise will be creating and implementing a robust PR program, which will include proactive media outreach and relationship building, story mining, key message development and trend monitoring.

Elise is a vegetarian, nature lover, and avid candy consumer. She also loves movies and collecting mid-century modern furniture.

Elise’s Uncommon Fact? She’s hand-fed sharks and lived to tell the tale (while keeping all her fingers!).

Peter Kokis is our new Security Manager who began with us on Monday, May 4.  Peter is a member of the Security Team.  In his new role, Peter will manage all aspects of Security and Safety for the company.

Peter’s Uncommon Facts?  He was on “The Peoples’ Court” TV Show, and builds robots in his spare time!

Transit Benefit Elections

All full-time team members are eligible to enroll for transit benefits. Through this program, team members have the opportunity to save up to $20.00 on travel expenses related to public transit. In order to enroll, visit our HR team and ask for the Transit Benefit Election Form.

Within Five: Park Slope CSA

UncommonGoods is located within five miles of unique community businesses, organizations, and  resources that are worthy of exploration. Every “Within Five” post will focus on a spot within five miles of UncommonGoods that dares to be different and/or does good.

This week's Within Five focus is Park Slope Community Supported Agriculture (CSA). A CSA is a partnership between a community and a farm. Farmers get a guaranteed income and market for their  produce, while the community gets great local, organic food in return. The Park Slope CSA season begins June 9, just 3.5 miles from the Brooklyn Army Terminal. The CSA offers two options for buy-in, a full share (weekly) or a share every other week.
